Important Components of an anti aging Diet

Aging is an inevitable part of life but one does not need to undergo dramatic plastic surgery to slow down its effects. The negative consequences associated with this process include wrinkles, reduced brain function and susceptibility to certain disease like cancer. However, an individual can elongate their life by selecting specific fruits, vegetables and other foods to ultimately combat these problems through an anti aging diet.

One of the explanations for this process is the free radical theory of aging. As an individual gets older, their cells experience damage from a build up free radicals. The idea is that anti-oxidants delay aging by reducing this harm. This occurs because antioxidants slow or stop oxidation, which is a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals.

In order to establish an anti aging diet, it is important to look for food sources that possess antioxidants such as vitamin A and vitamin C. Fruits and vegetables are a great choice for this objective. Ones should opt for the more colorful options such as spinach and eat frequent servings that follow recommended dietary guidelines.

Another than antioxidants, one can pursue anti-inflammatory food choices which differ at the cellular level with respect to inflammation. Certain foods such as sugars create a cascade of events that sets off an anti-inflammatory reaction by the body which speeds up the aging process. Once again, colorful fruits and vegetables have anti-inflammatory properties. Fish is also a great option especially cold-water fish.

Finally, an integral component of an anti aging diet is water. It is important to drink the recommended amount and to stay properly hydrated if one plans to age in a healthy manner. Water helps achieve this objective, as it is essential in nearly all aspects of the body from the skin to circulation. While pure water is a great source, fruits like watermelons can be used to achieve proper amounts.

Top Health Benefits Of Anti Aging Supplements

The world is becoming ever more obsessed with the idea of staying young and maintaining a nice appearance. We certainly live in a very superficial world and as such the anti aging industry has really taken off. But are these anti aging supplements really all they are cracked up to be? What exactly are the main health benefits of using them?

Well, the first benefit that you might consider would be the fact that you will gain protection from the free radicals within your body from all of the antioxidants that appear within the supplements. If you choose some of the supplements that have the best antioxidants within them then you will be able to gain protection from diseases that come with the onset of age such as cancer, and heart disease.

The second benefits of anti aging supplements to consider will be the fact that your bones and joints will remain strong for longer. If you choose the right supplements then you will be able to stay fit and healthy and live more of an active lifestyle for longer periods of time.

Thirdly, your brainpower will also not be affected quite so much if you use the right sort of supplements. Healthy cognitive functioning will remain strong and as such the risks of such things as memory loss will not be quite so acute.

The final benefits to consider will be the fact that there will be good hormonal growth and maintenance. These types of supplements will help you to maintain healthy looking skin and you will be able to avoid the onset of wrinkles for much longer. This is certainly very important for many people who like to look as young as they can for as long as possible.

As such, these are just some of the main benefits that you will see if you choose to right anti aging supplements.

Collagen – Anti Aging’s BEST friend

Collagen the Anti Aging Truth
The truth is we all want young looking skin, but as we get older the collagen that used to be a Type 3 is now a Type 1! Yes collagen is essential because it gives structure to our cells. It works hand in hand with elastin in supporting the bodys tissues. This provides firmness in our tissues, it is collagen that gives it form while the elastin gives it flexibility. As we age the skin losses elasticity and its capacity to retain moisture. Truth be told, our body produces less of it causing our skin to lose its fullness and so wrinkles form. Free radicals, the sun, pollution are responsible for the breakdown of collagen. We all want to look younger and with so many breakthroughs in the skin care world, collagen is something we all should know more about.

What is Collagen
Collagen is the most important and abundant protein formed by a number of amino acids. Its main function is to sustain hydration in the skin. Collagen grows naturally in the body, but starts to decrease in adults, beginning at age thirty. At fifty, the human body produces only 35% of the collagen necessary for sustaining the skin and other organs. There are many types of collagen found throughout the body…such as in the connective tissues, cartilages, organs (including the liver, kidneys, and spleen). It’s also in the neural system, the eyes and in the muscles and skeletal cells. And it is great for wrinkles that come with age.

10 Effective Tips to Anti-aging

The question ‘Can we delay our aging?’ is everyone’s concern as our age grows year after year. The bad news is, we cannot stop aging. Nevertheless, the good news is, we can delay aging, slow down aging process, and have our ‘appearance age’ looks much younger than our ‘biological age’ !

To make anti-aging possible; that is, to delay or lessen the effects of aging, especially on the skin, we need first to know the causes of aging in order to understand and accept the strategies to slow down aging.

Causes of aging, and now even causes of shortened life-span are :

(1) our unbalanced diets
(2) unhealthy diets
(3) deskbound jobs
(4) lack of exercise
(5) unhealthy lifestyles
(6) unhealthy environment

These 6 factors seem to have accelerated the process of what we call ‘aging’, and have ‘shortened’ human life-span than expectation.

Yet, these are still some individuals who have crossed their 50’s and still appear to be somewhere in their 30’s. Who are these individuals? And what’s the secret behind their never-fading youth?

Here I’ve listed the 10 effective tips to slow down your aging process :

1. Antioxidants and Supplements
Since we’re talking about ‘quick’ anti aging methods, the first tip would be taking certain aging chemicals and supplements to restore youth without any efforts of diet control or exercise. Vitamin A and C are some of the best known Antioxidants that keep you young by neutralizing free radicals (which controls cell activity and prevent them from breaking). Among the supplements, I would recommend natural anti aging supplements.

2. Walking Faster Than Normal
Do you walk to lose weight and keep yourself fresh? Now try walking faster than your actual speed, try brisk walking! Walking fast for 15 to 20 minutes daily strengthens your body’s lower half portion, making you less vulnerable to osteoporosis. Also, fast walking is an alternative to aerobic exercise.

3. Follow Low Calorie Diet Plan
The main purpose of eating low-fat diet is not just to reduce weight but also to prevent your arteries from blocking up with cholesterol. In order to maintain a healthy diet, cut down all the meat-related content and replace it with fresh fruits and vegetables.

4.Consume Polyunsaturated Fats
People believe that cutting down fats will make them appear slim and young, while they must understand that fat is one of the basic elements our body requires for survival. However, they should know the marked difference between unhealthy fats and polyunsaturated healthy fats obtained from sunflower-seed oil beans, oat products, fruits with pectin (oranges and apples), and Omega 3 fatty acids from fish.

5. Bring Balance to Your BMI
Body mass index (BMI) is the estimate of body fat depending on your height and weight. Normal BMI ranges from 18.5 to 24.9. Overweight ranges from 25 to 29.9. While above 30 is termed as obesity. For best appearance and health, make sure your BMI lies somewhere between the normal range.

6. Strengthen Bones
Every year adults lose 1% of their bone mass, the figures rising among women up to 4-6%. With loss in bone mass, your bones may become weak and prone to fracture and even osteoporosis. A good way to enhance bone density is by conducting powerful exercises like weight training, walking, cycling, hiking or swimming. Vitamin D consumption can also be helpful in maintain your bone strength.

7. Quit Smoking and Drinking!
Smoking and drinking alcohol can greatly impact you physically as well as internally, making you look and feel old! Ever wonder why smokers and drinkers have dark lips, wrinkled skin, dark circles? It’s because these two elements destroy one’s life by reducing the body’s blood circulation.

8. Obey Your Dental Visits
If you want your teeth to remain intact after 40, you need to keep them clean and plaque-free. Brush your teeth after every meal, particularly after waking up and before going to bed. Also, get your teeth checked up by a dentist at least twice a year.

9. Drink water
To speed up your metabolism and make your skin glow, drink plenty of water every day. Water is the best fluid to flush out your body’s toxins and keep you revived all day long. Avoid other fluids like coffee, tea or carbonated drinks. Green tea however is a better option.

10. Stress Management
Depression and stress can accelerate your age manifold. When in stressful situations, try diverting your mind by involving it with some other stress-relieving activities like taking a walk in the nearby park, spending time out with friends, watching a movie and so on.

The above 10 points work miraculously to maintain your youth and longevity.

I am sure few of the above works well for you. Let us know in the comment box.

Is the Aging Process feasible?

Yes, if you know how…..and practise the know-how….

Diseases Involving Accelerated Aging
Several diseases have the effect of rapidly increasing the rate at which the carrier ages. For example, patients afflicted by progeria suffer from arteriosclerosis, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and non-healing fractures by the age of seven. Degeneration of hair follicles leads to balding. Most progeria sufferers die by the age of 30. Several other diseases are known to have similar effects, including Cockayne syndrome and Werner’s syndrome.

 Possibilities of Increased Lifespan
As things stand, the maximum human lifespan is about 120 years. As a whole, human knowledge is increasing at an exponential rate. By this logic, some scientists believe to increase the human lifespan is possible.

Suggestion to increase the human lifespan
By increasing the amount of antioxidants in one’s system, one will have less damaging free radicals in the body.

How can science slow down the ageing process?

Scientists have been successful in prolonging the life of some animals. On a near-starvation diet rodents can live up to 40% longer, so long as they have the required vitamins and minerals.

Scientists have also been able to identify some of the genes related to ageing. Modifying these genes can lengthen the life of yeast, worms, mice and fruit flies. Yet, would these longer-living or slower-ageing animals prosper in the real world? Evolutionary theory predicts that longevity would come at a cost. Many of these mutants have been infertile

What is Aging ?

Aging is the process of growing old or developing the appearance and characteristics of old age.

In short ,

Aging = Getting Older

The effects of aging on a human being are inevitably obvious to the outside observer.

Common aging signs are : skin wrinkles, hair loses its color, the body becomes fragile, and eventually the body’s internal systems begin to fail.

Why must this happen as our age is catching up? Is it necessary that biological organisms cease functioning after an allotted time?

At this time, there is no definitive answer to these questions. There are, however, several prominent findings that partially explain senescence, the process of aging.

Current scientific findings explain aging from 2 aspects : (simplified explanation)

DNA Damage
Aging is caused by accumulated damage to DNA, which in turn inhibits cells’ ability to function and express the appropriate genes. This leads to cell death and overall aging of the organism.

Aging is a direct consequence of genetic programming.

DNA damages occur continuously in cells of living organisms (normal biological process). While most of these damages are repaired, some other repair mechanisms cannot correct defects as fast as they are apparently produced. Most damage comes in the form of oxidative damage, and hence is likely to be a prominent cause of aging.

Free Radicals & Anti-Oxidants
Free Radicals
Free radicals can be found in abundance in the environment: air pollution, tobacco smoke, radiation, toxic waste, and certain chemicals.

Free radicals are damaging to the body because they are extremely reactive. In other words, free radicals are strong oxidizing agents.

Unfortunately, free radicals cannot be avoided since they are by-products of essential reactions in the body, such as the process of metabolizing oxygen.

These effects are known as oxidative stress, and may lead to DNA mutations, cell death, and disease, all of which contribute to the overall effects of aging.

So how to prevent free radical damage to our body ?
To prevent oxidative stress, one should reduce environmental burdens in the body (chemicals/heavy metals), reduce stress, improve the quality of one’s food supply, and (if possible) increase one’s antioxidant mechanisms.

Antioxidants
Antioxidants are the body’s solution to oxidative stress. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals by supplying them with extra electrons. This exchange results in lowering the reactivity of the free radical, which is a good solution to slow down aging process.

Is life-long living possible ?

Humans are the longest-living mammals. The maximum human life-span is 120 years, but the length of life varies a lot from place to place.

Overall, we know a lot about the human population. Yet although we know how long a person is statistically expected to live, we cannot predict how long each individual will actually live. An accident or self-destructive life-style can suddenly end the life of any person, independent of their genes. This is internal factors affecting life-long living.

Nowadays, external factors affecting life-long living are becoming more severe and influencing. The food we eat, the environments we live in, have caused many new diseases like heat stroke, cancers, whereby we don’t encounter in the 19 century.

Technology especially bio-health science has advanced, thus to live to age 115 is possible. To live to age 100 is achievable. Taking the harmful food we intake and harmful environment we live in, if we take precaution and live a healthier lifestyle, to live to age 85 is easily achievable for all human beings.

In conclusion, the additional years of life have been gained by ‘traditional’ methods, such as improved food supply, hygiene and medicine. In that sense living longer is a choice, if you know how, and practise it.
